LOOKING FORWARD TO 2021 EXCITING TIMES WITH PUPS AND LAMBS

SloaneJanuary is going to be a very busy time for us here at Oakberrow.  Our sheep start lambing 18 January and also our beautiful Hungarian Wirehaired Vizsla bitch, Sloane will be having her first litter on 21 January. UPDATE 25 JAN. ALL PUPPIES SPOKEN FOR.

NEW to Oakberrow are our flock of Blue Texels which Steve and I are very excited about.  The girls will start lambing February/March time to our handsome ram Buckenhill Denzel who has excellent breeding with Sams and Boys breeding.  Our ewes have been purchased from some of the top flocks - Misereden, Morridge, Littlebrook and Betws Blues.

The Ryeland girls are in lamb to Cagedale Windfall, Dolwen Yohan and also Strata ZigZag.  The Coloured Ryelands have gone to Bachebrook Willy Wonka, Rimini Yoda, Brambles Zebedee.

The Greyface Dartmoors have gone to our handsome Swallows 1 who produced quality lambs last year.

So fingers crossed for all to go well and definitely something to look forward to in these uncertain times.  Take care and keep safe.

If anyone requires more information, then do get in touch with either Steve or myself.

GUNDOG TRAINING AT OAKBERROW

Myself and Steve have trained dogs, in particular gundogs, for over 40 years and have great experience in this field.

All the dogs at Oakberrow work out in the shooting field in the season picking up.

This is a great time of year to get that training done before the shooting season, or if you just want to have an obedient dog so you can enjoy taking them walks, then come along to Oakberrow.

So we would cover walking on a lead (without pulling), basic obedience and then if you did want to learn about training your dog for the shooting field we can cover that as well.  As we have mostly HPR breeds here then covering all the skills that tthese dogs have can be taught here.

Basically we would be teaching you.  If interested, please do get in touch - 07971675162 or email dsg.oakberrow@gmail.com

NATIONAL RYELAND SHOW AND BURWARTON SHOW MEMORIES

National Ryeland Champion 2016We are living in strange times these days with the Covid-19 virus.

Our life here at Oakberrow during August has been a particularly busy time showing the Ryelands and Coloured Ryelands at the two of the prestigious shows in the agricultural world.

We are missing them but it is great to reflect back on the great success we have had in the past years.  2016 bringing us the National Ryeland Champion with our shearling ewe.  The Ryeland National show is hosted by Tenbury Show.  Then in 2018 we had Reserve Interbreed Champion with our Ryeland Shearling Ram Widgits Xemplar and in 2019 Champion Coloured Ryeland with Rimini Yoda.

Yoda Champion Coloured Ryeland

Miss catching up with all our sheep friends and the fun and antics that take place around the lines and in the Bar.

Looking forward to 2021 in the hope that the shows will be back and we can get out there once again showing our quality stock.

LAMBING STARTS ON 4TH FEBRUARY - still some space available for lambing courses

Feeding in the barnThe weather has been dreadful, but the expectant girls are all safely tucked up in the barn.  They enjoyed the last few frosty days.

The first ewe to lamb will be one of our shearling Greyface Dartmoors who is expecting a single.  It is always very exciting waiting for the first lamb to appear.

If interested we do still have a few spaces available for lambing courses.  So why not come along to Oakberrow and learn about lambing and hopefully you will go home with more confidence when it comes to your lambing time.

Love to hear from you and any questions, please ask.  01531 640102/07971675162 or dsg.oakberrow@gmail.com
